Lion Lisa gave a very interesting presentation on the history of the Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville Texas, camp amenities, activities and available Camp support personnel.  This summer’s Camp season had 1,510 youngsters attend the various weekly sessions for children with physical disabilities, Down syndrome and Type-1 Diabetes.  Campers participated in swimming, rock wall climbing, and horseback riding, among the 20+ programs available for campers.  The Texas Lions Camp has an on-site infirmary, 400 beds for campers and councilors, and all located on 515 acres in the beautiful Texas Hill Country.  Councilors stress a “can do” attitude among the campers.  The Texas Lions Camp is provided at no fee to eligible children (actual cost to the Lions of Texas is slightly less than $2,000 per camper).  The current Camp operating budget is $2.9M which are funded by our Lions dues, scholarships, 100% contributions, endowment bricks at the Camp, memorials, the annual Bob Dowden Dinner, etc.  For Amazon users, the next time you make a purchase, sign-on to:  www.smile.amazon.com and choose “Texas Lions Camp” as your charity.  0.05% of your total purchase will then be given to the Texas Lions Camp.  For more information on the Camp go to:   http://www.lionscamp.com/
