Lion President Mike Halbach introduced our speaker, Colleen Henggeler.  Colleen is the Executive Director of Inspiring Possibilities.  Lions & guest pictured left-right: Lion Don Pribilski, Colleen Henggeler and Lion Ken Neal.
 
This entity is a non profit organization set up to help children (kids) with disabilities.  Provide services for individuals with special needs NOW.
  • Use of adaptive marial arts components of physical fitness, occupational and physical therapy
  • Kids with special needs generally have to be on a waiting list for these services
  • Inspiring Possibilities—tries to alleviate the long wait for help with children with disabilities
  • Use All-Star Martial Arts center in the Cypress area
  • Their therapy includes teaching students on facial expressions—smile—etc, use positive instruction steps
  • Program is costly due to human time, usually one on one with many of the students with disabilities, contract with board certified Behaviorial Analyst
  • Try to help students become as independent as possible
  • Cost is $2,000 per student per year
  • Student attends twice a week
  • Majority of students are under age 18 years
  • Currently have 42 students.
 
In addition, new member Edward DeLany was installed into the Tomball Lions Club by District 2-S2 Governor Tony Austin at the monthly President-Secretary Meeting on February 05, 2020.
