Noah Speer, the district governor elect, stressed service as key to Lionism and encouraged the group to participate in leadership development activities: USA-Canada forum in Puerto Rico in September, the October Bob Dowden dinner, and February 2015 leadership conference. On October 18 the Huntsville Lions club will form an all lady Lions club. He advised the group to search out service projects which will inspire others to join the Lions Club.

Randy Parr, Chief of the Tomball Fire Department, addressed the group, saying that fires are failures of prevention. He spoke of the need for funds for public education. He shared many ways that the club can become sponsors of the kids that the Fire Department helps every year. President Jerome said the board of directors will address the request at the next lions club board meeting.

David Riddle, Outreach Director for Precinct District 4, gave a review of which governmental agencies are responsible for what type of roads. He explained all of the Pct. 4 projects that are underway in our area. He mentioned both the State Hwy 249 Toll Road and the Grand Parkway - State Hwy 99 Toll Road. He mentioned the precinct’s parks program and the available bus services for Senior adult programs and extended trips to many surrounding areas.

The Tomball Lions Club meets at noon at the Pecos Grilling Company restaurant on Highway 249 twice monthly. The club promotes pairing glasses with those who need help with their vision and sponsoring the participation of young physically-challenged campers for a week at the Lions' camp in Kerrville.
