Lion William Dunaway of Tomball Lions Club is involved as Senior Coffee Trader at his family coffee import business located in Tomball, Texas. Copan Trade is a green coffee importer who established their U.S. business in 2002 in Tomball. William's mother, Sheri Dunaway, is the CEO. A community cupping event/open house was held February 23rd at Copan Trade.
Tomball Lions William Dunaway, Lion Paul Hancock, wife Pat, Lion Russel McKinney and wife Susan, Lion Mike Halbach and wife Lion Karen, Lion Bob Ervin, Lion Mary Whitaker, and Lion Dr. Paul Descant attended the tour and the tasting/cupping, along with customers of Copan Trade.
We learned about the coffee business and the import business for coffee; we also learned about how our used eyeglasses (Lions Recycle Eyeglass Project) collections in the Tomball area end up in Honduras (and other coffee producing countries) among numerous needy children and adults in the coffee bean picking and export business. The Lions are widely recognized in Honduras; this tour of this local business provided more insight to the Lions' mission and presence.
